Sahra grew up in a small country town north of Sydney, Australia, with a passion for music and performing that revealed itself from an early age. Convinced that entertainment would somehow become part of her life, she went on to build an impressive musical journey — performing alongside Australian artists including Vanessa Amorosi and Richard Clapton, touring throughout Australia, and appearing on television as both a singer and actress.
In 1996, Sahra met Blue Pie Director Damien Reilly, beginning a friendship and creative partnership that would ultimately shape much of her recording career. Sahra and Damien began writing together in 1997, creating their first song, “One Sweet Day,” with producer Phil Munro. What started with Damien on guitar and Sahra developing melodies and lyrics soon evolved into a powerful songwriting partnership, with Phil bringing his talents as producer, arranger and songwriter into the creative process.
Together, the trio set out to create songs that would be timeless, emotionally honest and capable of showcasing the extraordinary character of Sahra’s voice. Those sessions became GIRL PARTS, an intensely personal collection of songs capturing love, joy, vulnerability, heartbreak and everything in between.
One of the album’s defining moments was Sahra’s interpretation of the 1978 R&B number-one hit “Boogie Oogie Oogie” by A Taste of Honey. Across GIRL PARTS, however, it is Sahra’s original material and emotional performances that reveal the depth of her artistry. Several performances were captured in remarkably few takes, preserving the emotion of the moment rather than polishing it away. You can hear the laughter, sorrow, strength and vulnerability within the songs. In many ways, GIRL PARTS became exactly what its title suggests — all the different parts of a girl called Sahra.
A New Generation Discovers Sahra
More than 25 years later, Sahra’s musical story is continuing to grow.
Her distinctive vocals and songwriting have introduced her to entirely new audiences through collaborations and featured appearances with artists including Gabe Rizza, Key Loch, Running Blue and DL Down3r, among others. These collaborations have allowed Sahra’s voice to move effortlessly across pop, soul, rock, dance and contemporary crossover productions while retaining the emotional quality that has always made her instantly recognisable.
One of the standout successes from this new chapter has been “Starlight,” featuring Sahra alongside DL Down3r, also known as Mr. Suga Boom Boom. The track has now surpassed 4 million streams worldwide and continues to grow, introducing Sahra to listeners who may be discovering her voice for the very first time.
And they are discovering much more than one song.
In 2026, Sahra reached another major career milestone, surpassing 20 million combined streams across her featured collaborations and the extensive body of original music released throughout more than 25 years with Blue Pie Records and DJ Central Records.
It is a remarkable second chapter for an artist whose music was never created to follow a moment or a trend. These songs were built around melody, emotion, musicianship and storytelling — and decades later, those qualities are allowing the catalogue to connect with audiences all over again.
Sahra’s songwriting ability remains undeniable. There is an honesty in the way she writes and a rare emotional quality in the way she delivers a lyric. Whether she is performing one of her own deeply personal songs or lending her voice to another artist’s recording, Sahra has the ability to make the listener believe the story.
Today, her music is reaching new listeners, appearing across playlists and streaming platforms around the world, while an ever-growing international audience continues to discover both her classic catalogue and her latest collaborations.
The numbers tell part of the story — millions of streams, decades of recordings and listeners around the world — but Sahra’s greatest strength has always been something much simpler: the voice, the song and the emotion.
All you have to do is listen. Sahra takes care of the rest.
